General Director of Elektroprivreda Srbije, Mr. Dušan Živković
visited the works on the general overhaul of B1 unit in the thermal power plant
Kostolac B. - The first general overhaul of B1 unit in Kostolac since the
completion of the rehabilitation in 2014 began in May and is considered as one
of the most important undertakings for providing the safe operation of the 350
MW plant in the coming years. Extensive works are progressing in line with the
planned dynamics and will be completed before the start of the heating season –
Mr. Zivkovic said.
Most of works are being executed on the boiler plant for
enhancing the parameters, then parts on the pipe system are being replaced, the
major overhaul of the turbogenerator is ongoing, and the water supply system is
being reconstructed in the plant for ash and slurry preparation and transport.
In addition, a system of secondary measures for the reduction of nitrogen
oxides is installed.
- Major overhauls improve the energy efficiency properties
of the units and environmental performance. I expect the highest quality of
work from everyone involved in the overhaul while adhering to the set
deadlines. The contractors are also local companies, and the works were not
discontinued even during the extreme heat, but all the works were executed
owing to good organization of work. In Kostolac, the oldest and smallest A1 unit,
with a capacity of 100 megawatts, is also being overhauled and it should be on
the grid at the beginning of August – Mr. Zivkovic reported.
