EPS more powerful by more than new 400 MW

Tomorrow is a very important day for Elektroprivreda Srbije, as we will sign Taking Over Certificate for Kostolac B3 unit from Chinese company CMEC. Three decades later, we are stronger for new 350 MW in our electric power system and this ensures additional security – said Dušan Živković, EPS General Manager, at the conference “New Era of Energy: Where Regional Electric Power Industries are Today – Plans for the Future”.

Živković has pointed out that newly built B3 unit is far more modern and efficient, and its operation will further contribute to energy security and will influence the emissions reduction. He has mentioned that the works on 66 MW Kostolac windfarm, where three wind turbines have already been mounted, are in progress and that 70 % of the works on 10 MW Petka solar power plant have been performed.

- We will have more than new 400 MW additionally just at Kostolac locations and new road for the future of EPS will be carved at that location – said Živković.

At the conference of Balkans Energy portal, EPS CEO also referred to 1 GW solar project, as well as to Bistrica PSHPP project development. He particularly highlighted that EPS had started business transformation, that EPS is changing and regional electric power industries should take the same road, as well.

- Recent amendments to the law impose changes, new market participants appear, aggregators, active purchaser, and we already have 4,000 new prosumers. We all have a common challenge at times of energy transition, and that is to provide energy sovereignty, as well as sufficient energy for economic growth, advancement of new technologies, digitalization, AI development – said Živković. ​
