Dubravka Đedović
Handanović, Minister of Mining and Energy and Dušan Živković, General Manager
of "Elektoprivreda Srbije“ today visited the works at the solar power
plant ’’Petka“.
- Each new
megawatt has great significance for "Elektroprivreda Srbije", and the
fact is that almost 50 percent more investments were realized in the energy
sector this year than last year - said the Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka
Đedović Handanović, and added:
- There are
no big or small projects, every megawatt is needed, because it means additional
energy security and safety. SPP "Petka" is the first EPS solar park
on an old mining dump site and there will be more. With this generation
capacity, which will be online in the first three months of 2025, as well as
the first EPS wind farm, which will also be in operation next year, we are definitely
changing the image of our electricity industry.
In addition,
we have started work on a large solar project of 1,000 MW with 200 MW of
battery storage, which will significantly change the production portfolio of
our energy company" - the Minister said.
"The new projects that are being built are green capacities depending on
weather conditions, so it is necessary to think about basic capacities, such as
gas power plants. As Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić announced, we will work
on the development of those projects as well" - said Đedović Handanović
General Manager of EPS, Dušan Živković, stated that the installation of solar
panels, which are located on an area of 11.6 hectares, is in progress.
-"SPP ’’Petka“ will have an installed capacity of 9.75 MW and a planned
annual generation of 15.6 gigawatt-hours. According to the current dynamics of
the works, the deadlines will be met, and the plan is to finish them in
mid-February. This will contribute both to changes in the EPS portfolio and to
additional security and stability in the electricity supply"- said Živković.
