The rehabilitation of Unit 1 in the Bajina Bašta
Pumped Storage Hydropower Plant is one of the most important investments in Elektroprivreda
Srbije, and this great project is entering its finale. The 450-ton rotor was
successfully lifted down into the generator stator.
- To execute this complex, several hours long
operation, reliable operation of cranes, hoists, special cables, an experienced
team and favorable weather were all required. All conditions were met, and the
job was done well – says Mr. Slobodan Spasojević, Head of the Mechanical
Maintenance Service in HPP Bajina Bašta.
The Japanese company Toshiba is the contractor, the
subcontractors are Goša Montaža, Elektromontaža and Elektroremont, and the
supervision and crane operators are from HPP Bajina Bašta. Good coordination
was needed to carry out this complex job without any problems. In the coming
period, coupling the rotor with the shaft, installation of the generator upper
bracket and the generator upper guide bearing are to be done.
This year, Unit 1 will have been rehabilitated,
and Unit 2 in 2025. With the completion of the rehabilitation, the operation of
this EPS gold reserve will be ensured in the coming decades. This extensive
work in the Bajina Bašta Pumped Storage Hydropower Plant is being executed 42
years after the beginning of its operation and 20 years after the major
overhaul in 2004 when its vital parts, the runner and wicket gates were not
changed. The rehabilitation of Unit R1 in the Bajina Bašta Pumped Storage Hydropower
Plant began on April 1.
