Unexpectedly high electricity consumption, along with overly
complex conditions for coal production during several tropical weeks under the
circumstances of poor hydrology, are just some of the challenges that characterized
the operations of the Joint Stock Company Elektroprivreda Srbije in the third
quarter of 2024. Despite all these circumstances, the overall financial result
in the first nine months is better than planned by 31%. Profit reached RSD 29.2
billion, which is RSD 6.9 billion more than planned.
- It is particularly important that the coal stocks in
the thermal power plants were well filled and were at the level of two million
tons, as well as the fact that we have preserved considerable reserves in the reservoirs.
Intensive work was done on overhauls of production capacities both within the
scope of coal production and within the scope of energy production. I would particularly
like to point out the major overhaul of Unit B1 in Kostolac, as well as Unit A2
in TENT. For the long-term provision of energy security, the rehabilitation of the
Pumped Storage Hydropower Plant Bajina Bašta, which began after 42 years of
operation and is proceeding according to the planned dynamics, is of utmost
importance - said Mr. Dušan Živković, General Manager of EPS.
In the third quarter, works on the investment
projects, on the Wind Farm Kostolac, the Solar Power Plant Petka and the
preparation of documents for the construction of the Pumped Storage Hydropower
Plant Bistrica have been continued. In the same period, the implementation of
the company's Transformation Plan began, which implementation yielded the first
remarkable results in the improvement of the organizational structure and the
digitalization of business processes and services.
