The citizens of Serbia have no reason to worry about
because there is enough electricity. We are ready for the holidays and the actual
energy situation is stable – said Dušan Živković, General Manager of Elektroprivreda
Srbije, as a guest in the Morning News at RTS.
The head of the EPS pointed out that the geopolitical
challenges are great, and actions are taken to prevent all possible risks.
- We provide electricity on the market when it is most
favorable, we keep our stocks and reservoirs, and we are ready for the period
of New Year, Christmas, and winter - said Živković.
- Coal stocks in thermal power plants are at the level
of 1.6 million tons. We have enough coal in the mines. There has been a challenging
period due to heavy, wet snow, but we demonstrated that we can cope with such
situations. Currently, the hydrological situation on the Danube is improved,
with about 75 percent of the reservoirs filled. Reservoirs and stocks are ready
for this time of year.
Živković pointed out that the new B3 unit in Kostolac
is on the grid and stably supports the power system, while TENT A and B are the
holders of the power system and cover half of the consumption. He stated that
there was no increase in the price of electricity in 2024, and that EPS is taking
actions to ensure that the next year passes without an increase in prices for
households by raising efficiency and optimizing processes.
